Health-e-kids outreach initiative will:
- Promote children’s health through information, education and enrollment in existing public and private healthcare programs.
- Reduce the number of uninsured children.
- Increase the retention rate of medical insurance for children.
- Build strong collaborations with community-based organizations, schools and community health clinics.
- Provide meaningful internship opportunities for students in healthcare related career programs.
Greater than 1.1 million Arizonans do not have health insurance, about one in five people. Arizona ranks near the bottom of U.S. health coverage rankings according to State Health Access Data Center, University of Minnesota. In fact, it is estimated that as many as 130,000 kids are ELIGIBLE but NOT ENROLLED in KidsCare; that's more kids than all the seats in Sun Devil stadium and the Cardinals - University of Phoenix Stadium combined.
The Keogh Health Foundation understands the power of effective collaboration. Since 2003, by partnering with community-based groups, more than 50,000 Arizonans were able to learn of, and access more affordable healthcare. The Keogh Health Foundation is seeking additional and community and faith-based partners in Mesa; with a primary focus on zip codes ñ 85201, 85202, 85203, 85204, 85205, 85208 and 85213. Mesa Public Schools, United Food Bank, Mountain Park Health Center ñ WIC office and the Mesa Republic are our initial community partners.
- A Speaker's Bureau will help inform service groups, faith-based gatherings and community groups of the importance of healthcare for children's health, school performance and economic impact.
- Information Dissemination Partners representing a very broad array of community, faith, healthcare and business groups will distribute materials promoting childrenís health and KidsCare coverage.
- Enrollment Partners, which include schools, community-based groups and healthcare providers, will host Enrollment Assistance Specialists who will screen and enroll kids and families.
- Health-e-Kids Advocacy Corp will provide assistance to families who experience difficulty with the AHCCCS and KidsCare enrollment and renewal processes.
