2007 Arizona Youth Piano Competition Winners:

Phoenix, AZ – The second Arizona Youth Piano Competition, sponsored by the Keogh Health Foundation, announced nine winners on Saturday, October 27, 2007 and $12,000 in prize money was distributed to nine medalists.  Twenty-nine advanced piano students entered the two day event held at Steinway of Phoenix and competed in three age divisions.

Senior Division Medalists: ages 15 – 18, Gold – Grace Ma, Chandler, student of Fei Xu, Silver – Derek Lee Huang, Chandler, student of Fei Xu,   Bronze – Cynthia Tiffany Lee, Dr. June Chow-Tyre.

Junior Division Medalists: ages 11 – 14, Gold – Anna Han, Chandler, student of Fei Xu,
Silver – Carolynn Cong, Scottsdale, student of Fei Xu, Bronze – Jingjing Fan, Tucson, student of Svetlana Arakelova.

Elementary Division Medalists: ages 10 and under, Gold – Eric Lin, Chandler, student of Hong Zhu, Silver – Elizabeth J. Sun, Chandler, student of Fei Xu, Bronze – Katrina Jia, Chandler, student of Fei Xu.

Judges for the two day competition: Judith R. Cohen, Steinway Artist., Seattle, WA, Dr. Douglas Humpherys, Chair, Piano Department, Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, Michael Kim, Associate Professor of Music at Lawrence University, Appleton, WI. During the competition, neither the identity of the students or their teachers was known to the judges.
